I believe that stress is a large contributing factor. Also it has been my experience that an MRI at least shows the nerve/s involved. With MS I get an MRI annually. Also, my doctors and text has said that TN is generally seasonal - in the Spring and the Fall. That is in line with your experience. I stress through the seasons, not looking forward to the end of Winter and Summer for that silly reason. I take 10 pills a day to manage my TN and have found that to be the perfect combination. I am maxed out on Gabepentin, unfortunately, but I have found others along the way to compliment it. I began with Tegretol, didn't work, started the Gabepentin, then Trileptal, Baclofen and my favorite magic pills, Lamictal. Hope you find exactly brings consistent peace. Best to you, Nanci

It may be a contributing factor but I'm not sure. I had MVD and a large vessel was found compressing the nerve. But the worst time and the time that led to me having surgery started in October and I was under a lot of stress. I really thought that that was the cause until a vessel was found during the surgery. But most if not all of my flareups have been in April and September/October. And the first time I had TN was in April and I was separated from my husband although it had been a year and a half when I had separated. But I know I was under stress.
