Last year, I purchased a beautiful piece of pottery from a silent auction being held for my son's school. A few month's ago, I broke it due to a medicated episode. LOL. My neighbor had actually made it. I asked her if I could pay her to make another and she said no. But she would take me with her and show me how to make my own. I was like Really? But I went and cannot believe what a wonderful distraction it has become for me and my TN. I had trouble throwing on the wheel because my hands give out due to the medication I am currently taking, but I am determined to keep trying. Currently though, I am learning to hand-build. It comes naturally to me because I have a lot of wood working experience. I have been afraid to work with wood and use the electric tools with my medicated brain in fear of cutting off my fingers, so this is perfect. It is a great distraction for pain and depression and if I screw up, it is just clay. I have read that art is great therapy and now believe it. I hope this encourages someone to try some kind of art. I can add pictures but that may discourage you. haha.
