Trigeminal Neuralgia (TN) - Online Support Group

We are patients living with Trigeminal Neuralgia, here for your support.

I went to my neurologist today with pain behind my ear that radiated up my head. He says it is my trigeminal nerve. I already have the pain at the beginning of the nerve. Does anyone else get pain at the end of the nerve behind the ear?

I am on carbatrol, topamax, and my doctor put me on gabapentin yesterday. It seems to be helping some. I am not at the full dose yet. I will be on Sat.

My glasses started to hurt me on the bridge of my nose...really annoying cause I can't see much without my glasses and the bridge of my nose was killing me and hurting my head...which has just started again.

Lena, I'm so sorry, and I understand. At some point, it doesn't matter where the pain comes from, you just want it to STOP! My pain mostly comes right above my right eye, behind my right ear, right below my eye, and the right side of my nose has a "cold patch" that annoys me, but doesn't hurt. I'd like to put my face on a shelf for a few days :-)

Hang tough! What meds are you on? I'm just curious.

Thanks Melodye. The only thing is, is I know this disease is getting worse for me. I am now on three meds and I have pain over most of the right side of my head. It used to only be my temple. Good luck with the neurosurgeon.

That's where I have the most pain! Right where my glasses' earpiece ends. At first, I thought my glasses needed adjusted!!! I didn't ask my neurologist specifically about that pain, because the pain above my eye seemed to be the most abnormal :-) and I was in a fog from pain... I am armed with more information now.

I have an appointment with my neurosurgeon in March to see if a glioma I have is causing the TN... we'll see!
