MVDs are done on one side at a time. if there is need for an MVD on the opposite side, the subsequent surgery is usually carried out within a 6 month time frame, pending any first surgical complications. vesper

Profile Information

What treatments have you undergone (or will undergo)? With what success?: supedol, tegretol

Please share your TN story with us...(How did your pain first emerge and then change over time? Were you ever misdiagnosed? Do you believe your pain was caused by dental work? Have you had unsuccessful surgeries or medications?): I have realized that over the past maybe 20 years I have had occassional symptoms of TN and wrote them off as brain spasms(joke) or dental problems or just wierd painful occurances. Two months ago I started getting wicked facial pain and again figured it would go away, a month later I had to go to the emergency room at the hospital because I could not take it anymore, they kept me overnite, did a bunch of tests...theysent me home with meds and told me to see my doc...he gave me a referral for a neurologist...I started my own research and came up with a TN diagnosis...when I saw the neurologist he agreed and gave me Tegretol...thats where I am now. I have a lot of pain on both sides.
