Face Pain Info Pages - References

References

At the beginning of this long webpage, we promised you assistance with research. That kind of assistance commonly involves quotations from medical literature, of which there have been a few in the material assembled above. However, I have assembled quite a longer list of medical references and links in my article, "Categorizing and Treating Chronic Face Pain", published on my personal website, "Giving Something Back." Feel free to visit the article or the site, and to post follow-up questions either there or in the comment box below. My co-moderators and I will make every effort to respond to questions on research issues, and to provide additional references from the medical literature or Internet sources. The many other contributors on Living With TN may also welcome a more interactive discussion in the various discussion threads and groups supported by the site.

Seow Chin Wong --

Your insight on why people go to a dentist seems accurate to me.  I have fairly often talked with dentists and dental surgeons about their training.  Most agreed that their training to assess neurological pain was inadequate.  I intend to publish some of our  findings from patient information, to dentist professional groups.

Thanks for your interest

Hi, I wonder if this TN pain is caused by something unknown to us, but due to its similarity to nerve pain of a tooth, most went to a dentist. Without adequate knowledge about TN, the endo surgeon started root canal treatment. This escalate the pain and complicate the whole matter. I feel that the national dental department should have a pain management department working in it. My country has none of this and would like to listen to your view.

Some TN patients have trouble with pain while  flying and some do not.   There is really no way to know except by trying it.  I suggest that you do so on a SHORT flight before you attempt something of long duration.

Regards and best,

Red
