Doowni, wow, I'm so happy for you! I have not met even 5 people yet whose surgeries were successful! April and October are my worst months, due to dramatic weather changes even from day to night. It is interesting that the barometric pressure or weather still gives you some pain.

Janet, I've been "given up on" by so many doctors that for a while I was suicidal. When a pain Dr. gives up, it takes away your hope. I have a lot of nasty "opinions" on my chart as well, but finally I got a kind lady Dr. who is just a G.P. but willling to help with pain control. Last week she had me sign this paper about being a "complex patient". It  had nothing to do withthe meds but I sure wonder what they use  that paoer for. Many of the doctors who quit on me were men who can't multi-task, and literally told me they can't handle more than one symptom at a time, and if I had a second symptom, to make a separate appointment. All diseases have more than one symptom and they won't find the disease unless they look at all the symptoms and put the puzzle together. It's so very frustrating, these 5 minute Dr. visits where they listen to the first 10 seconds of what you say and write a prescription for the first symptom you mention, then send you on your way. I hope you can also find a kind Dr. who will help you control the pain.

I have had two MVD surgeries and during a weather change is the only time I feel any pain now...I can tell you when it is going to rain based on the pain behind my right eye...it is just a dull ache and no where near wht it was before surgery but when the pressure in the air changes, there is the ache behind the eye.

I have been having pain since the beginning of October and I live in the Mid-west. My boyfriend actually suggested that it might have something to do with the changing of seasons. After my last really nasty attack the end of last April, I had a super, pretty much pain free summer. As a matter of fact, I had just talked my PA about possibly taking one less neurotin a day because of how good I was feeling. Then over this past weekend when I was down at my boyfriends, it hit hard again. Thankfully he understands, so much more than my Dr does. So I came home today & called the Dr to see if I could come in and no appts were open and told me I could either go to walk in or come and get a scrip for percocet. I did that, since last time it worked to get me thru the rough part. While I was waiting my boyfriend called to see how I was feeling. I feel blessed and lucky knowing him.

oh don't get me started on my pain dr.  I started seeing him in March,  I had to wait 10 months after i was diagnosed with TN to see this guy.  The first 2 months he was very sympathetic and said there were all kinds of therapies we could try.  Then after i had another MRI and saw the neurologist that said it had an emotional component he started saying 5 times in one session there isn't much he can do.  That most of the drugs for my TN aren't covered by ODSP drug plan and that any of the therapies he could think of aren't covered and can be $150 a session!!!  And then he started saying that he didn't believe me when i said i'd experienced 10/10 pain.   And then suddenly he discharges me.  I got really depressed and mad it was like being dumped by my boyfriend 3 weeks after being diagnosed all over again.  When that jackass dumped me it really hurt because its hard enough being diagnosed with anything as big and rare as this but him leaving me, made me feel like a worthless freak and no body wanted to deal with.    It still hurts me to think of how much it hurt.  I've been through breakups and disappointments but that one really cut deep.  I then had to come to terms with it and stand up for myself to doctors and stay strong.  Everything in the past 2 yrs especially have been hard but the silver lining is i've finally told my family about my pain and emotional pain(to a certain extent) and I'm going to give back(since i can't work) I'm going to foster and train dogs to be service dogs for kids with autism,  people with PTSD or companion dogs.  I plan on doing this for the next how many years until i can't anymore.   I love animals and know I can do this and since I don't think i could have kids or adopt this will have to fill the void.   sorry for the wrong rant but i hate my ex pain doctor and i'm going to see a new one in march(what is it with getting appointments in March with these ppl?!)

Whenever a Dr. doesn't know the answer, they blame US, saying we somehow are using the pain for attention or whatever their "psycho" babble is supposed to mean. I got that for 11 years with my lulpus. I was just a neurotic housewife for 11 years, then when I went to a University hospital, they found lupus, so all of a sudden I have a life threatening illness. If you go to the tab across the top of the page that says "Face pain info", I think they have listed many different nerves and what its called when you have neuralgia in that nerve. I would think that if you have had this since you were little, possibly you were born with it, or some toxin affected you in your first few years of life. I'm glad your pain Dr. gave you permission to go to the E.R.  Sometimes it's so unbearable, that's all we can do. Glad you know you don't have any infection. I was thinking if it was a new issue, this pain in the front, that could be a cause, but if it's not new, then it's not infection.

I've been to the dentist many times and i have no sinus infection.  when i have sinus pain i use those sinus rinses and it helps some.  I was supposed to have a root canal on that tooth so i went to a dentist that woulda cost much less than other dentist and they determined the tooth was fine.  The tooth pain comes and goes.  And yes many nerves are effected on me.  My pain starts from the back on my neck, and my head and scalp areas, my hairline, ears, eyes, sinuses, cheek, teeth(not my tongue very often), jaw and mouth and my pain is on both sides.  I've had MRI's and they say there is nothing touching the nerve on either side.  And I've had a neurologist say that because i've had it since child hood and because its on both sides there must be a psychological component to my pain.  WTF does that mean? lol  but ya i've gone to the ER twice(that was before I was diagnosed)  I sat there for hours and when i finally say a doctor they looked at me like i was nuts and a drug seeker and i ended up leaving pissed off and still in extreme pain.  Not to long ago I was seeing a pain doctor and my face really hurt for 11days but i didn't call him because i was supposed to see him soon and when i told him about that he asked why i didn't go to the E.R.  I explained why and he explained that they have to help me.  I then reminded him of the contract he made me sign that he was my only doctor that helped with pain.  Anyways, now i know if it gets bad enough to just go to emerg.  And if they try to say they won't help me i'll insist they call my family doctor or previous pain dr

Yes Janet I'm sure getting hit. Needed to go to the E.R. today it was so bad, but ended up taking my Mom there instead, waited 7 hours and so many things went wrong. I thought I'd pass out from it all.  I didn't want to wait another 7 hours for myself, then be too drugged to drive Mom home, so just trying to keep my sanity through severe flare.

Sounds like you have more than 1 nerve involved. I'm sure sorry. Did you know the pain can act like yours when you have a sinus infection or infected front tooth? Could you have either of those? Antibiotics could be an easy cure.

Is anyone else having alloy of face pain this fall?  Personally my nostrils, sinuses and one front top tooth is hurting like a bastard lately.  I could barely sleep lastnight cause i was in pain and then i slept most of today cause my face hurt really badly pretty much all day.   I'm hoping to have some relief once the season turns to winter. . .but i doubt it.

Gena you described the weather changes perfectly. Oh, I never thought of this pain coming with flying. Wonder if there's some way to prevent that.
