Permalink Reply by Vic Maidhof on July 10, 2010 at 10:35am I had my MVD surgery on June 25 and had similar double vision issues. My double vision started on the 27th and was gone by the 30th. I found that it was worse when looking at far-away objects, so I often looked at close objects like books or a computer screen. At first I found the double objects to be disorienting, and almost got motion sick a few times, then I decided to just sit back and not let it bother me. My wife drove me home, a 3 hour drive, and I rather enjoyed watching trucks driving through cars, entrance and exit ramp traffic crossing into the on-coming lanes, etc. When I didn't want to see double, I used an eye patch (pirate type) from the drug store to shield one eye and prevent the double vision (under $3.00). I switched the eye I was shielding from time to time. My double vision lasted only a couple of days, and now I am ready for Halloween, "Arrrr".
I had double vision for about 2 months after my MVD. I still have it to a certain extent but no longer need to wear prism glasses. I believe that i am on the mend and things will only get better. I have to say that it scared me when I read that others recovered so quickly as I was not. Patience was my lesson on this whole thing.
