I really feel like my chiropractor helped more than anything in my first episode of TN in Jan.  I was able to see him 2-3 times a week then.   He uses the "hands on" technique.  This second time, I…Continue

Has anyone tried hypobaric oxygen chamber for pain relief?

My chiropractor has recommended it,

Thanks catarinka!  I'm glad you found relief and a gentle technique.  I'm just too paranoid to go back to any chiropractor.  Fortunately, I'm managing relatively well on medications, exercise and rest.  Unfortunately, I have four different chronic pain conditions, so it's a matter of prioritizing which one is the worst on any given day.  Thanks again for your encouragement.

I'm so sorry to hear you had such a horrible chiropractic experience, Gloria. What a shame.  The pain it can cause sometimes (I've never had long lasting pain as you did) is the reason I am going to a chiro using the Blair technique which is VERY gentle! They don't crank & pop the neck, it's gentle manipulation, no pain (YAY!).  Another technique that is very similar is the NUCCA technique, also very gentle.  Something to consider (?). Best of luck to you Gloria.

The first and LAST time I was treated by a chiropractor, he damaged my neck so badly it took me six months to recover from the additional pain.  I understand some people benefit, but I am personally highly opposed to chiropractic treatments of any kind.

I think the acupuncture worked, but the acuPRESSURE seeds that adheres to the skin on the ear I believe may not have worked out so well. Yes, I will try the acupuncture again but will advise the Dr. not to place the seeds on my ears to see if that will make a difference.

Generally adults take longer for acupuncture to be effective than in children since we are conditioned to favor western medicine if we are not subjected to eastern medicine at a young age.  I believe that there are effective treatments both in eastern & western medicine, just finding the right combination & balance of the two may be tricky.  Acupuncture was helpful years ago for neck and back pain as well as migraines I use to get so I will give acupuncture 1 or 2 more chances before deciding to make it a definitive part of my treatment.

I couldn't quite tell by your post but did u think acupuncture helped or not?  and are you gonna try it more?  the first acupuncturist i saw it didn't help or make it worst and then i saw a different guy and i found at first it really hurt but it did over time make it feel better,  I have less zinger attacks.  Sometimes there are certain jaw(i have TMJ) and ear points that hurt and bleed but the rest of my face pain is better afterward.  I hope other ppl like it too.  If not its worth a try.  I'm currently looking into laser therapy but will need to save money first.

Oh, yah... almost forgot to mention that I will be trying a chiropractic method of adjustment called the "Blair" technique. It appears to be similar to the UCC and the NUCCA methods. I live in S.E. Kansas, the closest Blair practitioner is about 35-40 miles in Joplin, MO & I can't find a UCC or NUCCA practitioner as close or closer to where I live.

I will post when able after my next acupuncture & Blair adjustment appointments.

I saw an acupuncturist 2 days ago and had AMAZING pain relief, until 12:30 a.m. Saturday.  I woke up with one of the worst attacks ever!  A hot shower helped, was able to go shopping with my daughter, but it worsened & became more frequent over a span of about 2.5-3 hours time.  Got home, took hydrocodone, put a heating pad on my face and got slight relief.  Starting doing moving around & again for about 1/2 hr before I was hit with another zinger.  OK... finally decided acupuncture may not be so beneficial after all, then remembered he put acupressure seeds on key points of my ears.  Removed a few of them, pain lessened over and hour. Removed all but 3 of them & within 45 minutes HUGE relief!  Finally removed the last 3 & all I felt was the druggy feeling of the hydrocodone.

The swelling and pain isn't totally gone yet, but what a difference.  I slept through the night with no attacks (I know, these aren't suppose to happen when we sleep, but most of the worst attacks I get hit me in the night).  My husband was so happy to see my normal self this morning, & I was estactic about being back! Been a GREAT day.  :-)

I see a chiropractor and an adjustment doesn't make my face pain go away but he also does acupuncture on me and THAT really helps.  I'm not sure if it helps long term but I find it helps.

Yes, I did this last week & had some relief for about 3 days. My chiro does decompression of my spine (I also have degenerative disc disease), concentrating on my neck & upper back. It's not permanent, but it was a nice change of pain level. I highly recommend this!

This coming Friday, I will also be implenting acupunture. It was successful treating migraines in the past but now managed using propranolol to reduce my heart rate. In the beginning my resting HR was 130/minute. Now it remains below 100/minute & rarely have a hint of migraine. Perhaps acupuncture will be equally successful treating this TN.

Have you tried B12 injections? I will be asking my GP about this on Wednesday but would like to know if this has helped anyone.
