I went and picked up a new rat to add to my 3 last night. He is so lovely, happy to be patted ... my other 3 are rescue rats that I got off a lady (took 6 off her) who were in a disgusting condition and haven't been handled much so they are grumpy. So it's nice to have a cuddly boy! Cleaning out his cage he was in today really the conditions he was in were bad with cracked and rusty toys and a very rusty cage. I'm so glad he is with me now! :)

Oh my goodness, Mickey is so cute! This made me smile, thank you! I'll have to post a picture of my "therapy kitty" when I get home for you all to see - she is so sweet and has a tiny tail, we call her our bunny!

DOG DIALS EMERGENCY # AND IS RESCUED BY BRITISH POLICE

A dog incredibly managed to save his own life by dialing 999.  George, a two-year-old Basset Hound in England, became tangled in the cord after knocking his family's phone to the ground.

As the pup panicked, he somehow managed to call for help -- dialing the British equivalent of 911 -- as he frantically tried to free himself.

The emergency operator alerted police, who rushed to the residence. They were preparing to knock down the door when a neighbor with a key arrived on the scene to let them in. The neighbor, Paul Walker, recalled, "The police split up and ran through the house thinking someone had either been attacked or was desperately ill. I went to look round as well and walked into this room and saw George choking. He was absolutely terrified and could not free himself. I knew I had to get him free quickly so I just ripped the wire out."

His relieved owner said afterwards, "By the time I got back the police had gone and George was looking a little sorry for himself. It is just so lucky that his paw managed to ring 999 otherwise he would have died. We still don't know how he managed it. It's one of those old-fashioned phones with the dialing ring."

She added, "He's not usually very smart. He's really dopey and just likes to chew socks."
