How do I start the search? So many criteria to use. "Top 10 in country" "best bedisde manner," very important to me. I could fly to other areas of country. Since I am so new wait and see? Though of even one more attack almost more than I can bear. I am on tremendous anounts of meds as it is and I just don't see how how taking more is helpful. Am I beinga big baby about the whole thing?

Permalink Reply by Richard A. "Red" Lawhern on November 28, 2011 at 9:08am I just ran a search on behalf of my wife of 32 years. There are several "Best Doctors in America" sites. One that I found useful was as follows.
"Best Doctors Inc., a Boston-based company that rates physicians, takes a direct approach in determining the best doctors: It asks those in practice to whom they would turn if they or members of their families needed a specialist. More than 30,000 doctors nationwide submit evaluations of practitioners in 43 fields. Best Doctors then verifies licenses and board certifications and checks state medical boards for disciplinary actions. Best Doctors also asks doctors who are nominated more detailed questions about their practices, experience and research. About 4% of North Carolina's 16,000 licensed physicians make the list. An expanded list, including specialties not included here because of space constraints, can be found on our Web site,
For other and similar peer review type doctor searches try any of the pages in the following resource:
www.bestdoctors.com/+%22Best+Doctors+Inc%22&tbo=1&sa=X&..." target="_blank">http://www.google.com/search?q=%22Top+100+doctors%22&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a#hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=b8i&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&q=related:www.bestdoctors.com/+%22Best+Doctors+Inc%22&tbo=1&sa=X&...
(yeah, I know the URL is lengthy!)
Then take a look at the section on "finding a doctor" in our Face Pain Info pages.
Regards and best,

Permalink Reply by John Mcnally on February 7, 2012 at 4:17pm I live in the Peoria, Illinois area and there are three hospitals here. I was fortunate enough to have a family friend that is a retired MD. He recommended a neurosurgeon to me, Dr. Patrick T. Tracy. He is associated with the Illinois Neurological Institute, which is part of St. Francis Hospital, OSF. My experience with them was very positive and I feel that I received excellent care.
To John, how long have you had TN? You are very lucky to have found one, I tried one at the Illinois Neurological in Rockford and they little knowledge of this. Please let me know more as I am heading into Chicago the end of this month to see Dr Anderson.
Permalink Reply by John Mcnally on February 7, 2012 at 4:56pm Vicky, call Dr. Tracy at 309 676-0766. He is an excellent person, high success rate with surgeries. I first knew I had TN last summer.
