Trigeminal Neuralgia (TN) - Online Support Group

We are patients living with Trigeminal Neuralgia, here for your support.

I'm wondering if anyone thinks their TN or ATN came after a head or neck injury. I had a bad fall yesterday, my whole body weight landed on my neck and back of head, now my ATN is worse then ever, and I feel it on the opposite side too. Maybe pinched nerves in the neck? Can that cause ATN?

Thanks for any replies,
Sheila

Hi Cara!

WELCOME!! I am sorry for what you are struggling with. I am glad to hear you are appealing the disability decision. I have heard that almost everyone is denied the first time so the gov't can weed out those who just want an easy buck, and those who have no other choice but to seek disability help. It often takes many doctors and many years to get the right diagnosis. I'm glad you finally got the right diagnosis. I hope you will find a lot of good information here to take to your doctors, as you are such a rare case, they will probably be open to suggestions from 2000+ other TN patients. A lot of us have more than one nerve involved the way you do. I hope you and your doctors as a team can find the right meds to try and combine until you find what's right for you.

Kind thoughts, Sheila

Thanks for all the support! I was psyched when I stumbled across this forum. Im tired of venting the same thing over and over to my friends and family etc. They are supportive, but im sure they are sick of my headaches! Lol. Its also great to have so many people with a similar condition to bounce ideas off of! Im hoping he disability pulls through... This time i gathered all my dr info myself and submitted it myself. My doctors barely filled out the form the first time and they only requested records from 2010- present. My condition dates back to 2002 and i drive over an hour to see my doctors in boston. I feel like i have intelligent doctors and they have provided me with straight out letters saying im disabled in their eyes. Its is just a frustrating process.

mine could be pinched or more likely irritated nerve roots. i had some treatments and the scar tissue pulled the vertebrate back. I really have a tissue shortage. I dont know what upper level chiropracter do.  The nerve roots are irritated.
