An update.
I didn't think I could have increased pain by adding tegretol. Apparently it is possible that the tegretol may interfere with the levels of trileptal and tylenol. So that is probably the reason for my increased pain. The resolution is too ramp up the tegretol faster. But I decided not to try that not only because I'm scared of the pain I had and also my hands have begun to have jerking movements. I'm sure it is the tegretol and that is on a low dose (300 mg/day) and I haven't taken it since Monday night. So I guess I'll try the doctor's next choice which is baclofen. But that won't take care of the memory issues and sleepiness I am having with the trileptal. I'm not sure what else he may want to try.

Permalink Reply by Bob Snodgrass on September 16, 2010 at 9:17pm Hi, I was taking tegretol and it helped the pain but I was so tired and basically an idiot.I switched to trileptal and have more energy and it helps the pain. I was suppose to take the tegretol and trileptal at the same time then wean of the tegretol. I didn't want to take that much medication so I weaned off the one then started the other. I have pain attacks that break threw both drugs. That is my fault I guess because if I take enough to kill all pain I can't work. Good Luck
Liz,
I don't ask why we are here, though I'm grateful!
So many questions - "since Monday night" is one?
Be careful on the "ramp up", just me and the Tegretol thing.
I've had no issues with Baclofen.
I'm scared, also. bob
Sorry that it didn't work. Have you considered marinol as a backup in case the tylenol 3 doesn't work? I feel like there should be some kinda emergency pain medication in case the normal one doesn't work. I've thought about keeping a backup in stock, rather than running to the closet balled up in the fetal position.
Hope things get better with the new medication :)
