I am on the fence about pursuing a second mvd. I read that the risks are more likely to happen, ie. Hearing loss, facial numbness, etc. I am more afraid for second time around than the first.
Hi Jackie
I had a second MVD one year after the first. And unfortunately it was Unsucessfull.
I am due to have a Rhizotomy soon.
Saying that I have heard great success stories also.
I truly hope your friend finds relief soon.

Take care
Collette
Hi Colette
Ask the surgeon if he is going to clipp all the three branches while performing rhizotomy or spare the 1st branch (opthalmic) because Mine was spared & there is no pain in it for 45 years.  I was told by my neurosurgeon that the 1st division never gets pain when alone.

Again guys, thank you so much for all your replies. I am still wishing for better for all of you and of course my dear friend. I have told her about the discussion. You are all amazing, the best!

I have had 3 MVD's. None have helped. Has she tried Lyrica? Only thing that has helped me, and doesn't always do that. Good luck with your friend, she's in my prayers, and I feel her pain.

That is a dreadful shame to have endured three difficult surgeries with nothing to show for it. My friend has to take quite a cocktail with massive side effects. I think of her every hard day of her life. I hope you find lasting relief very soon.
