Trigeminal Neuralgia (TN) - Online Support Group

We are patients living with Trigeminal Neuralgia, here for your support.

Hello everyone. It is a true pleasure to meet you all. At this point I have been on the floor crying on and off for 12 hours now so please forgive any typing errors. There is an hour left before I can take my next pain medicine, the Dr has now given me vicodin and a referral to a neurologist. I will not get in to see him till sept 13th. Ironically that is my scheduled start date for my new job.
I started with pain from TN about 2 months ago. It was bad right from the start and very sudden. It got even worse as the days past. However, with relaxation, improving my diet, exercise, accupuncture, and the occasional tylenol it seemed to be improving over the last couple of weeks. Then last night I felt an attack coming on. I immediately took some tylenol. Did not even touch it. Within the next hour I could not walk and was a hysterical mess on the floor. In fact I am still in such pain I am holding my breath while I type this because I dont want to breathe.
Please share any tips you have on getting through days like this. Do they happen often? I was fine yesterday. It was such a sudden attack and I dont even know what set it off.

I hope you are feeling better by now! I feel so fortunate that my primary MD diagnosed me so soon and put me on Tegretol until I could get to the neurologist. She said that sometimes the pain escalates with every episode so she wanted to get it quieted down asap. If you haven't had an MRI done yet, see if your MD will order it before you see the neurologist. That way the neurologist will have the results in front of him or her and you won't waste even more time. Keep us posted. We care.
The pain has for the most part finally subsided. I even slept some yesterday for the first time in three days. It was amazing! LOL I am set to see my new Dr a little over a week from now. Its taking a ton of medication but I think I can make it till then.
I want to thank you all so very much for the support and well wishes. I hope someday we can all be pain free!
Nancy it is 5 a.m. and you just made me LOL, it hurt so good! If I even see a leaf move on a tree outside right now I get sick to my stomach. I have a hat that I put in front of my face when I walk to my car or inside buildings, I know I look like a weirdoooo but I do not care! Yesterday at the Dr. they had the AC on and it was blowing down EVERYWHERE I sat! The lady wanted me to come get a clip board at the desk, I walked around on the carpet like their were invisable objects looking up at the ceiling for AC units so I wouldn't get blasted by them. PPL were LOOKIE LUES!!! But I don't give a crap right now, it's care about what ppl think ang get electricuted or NOT CARE and TAKE CARE OF MYSELF! I go for option number two! Hope you have a pain free day!

Me to I went to the dentist and had x-rays today. When she put that machine covered in plastic against my cheek I wanted to cry or hit her. The dentist has decided i don't really need that crown on my back tooth. They asked if i wanted my teeth cleaned today. I am thinking HELL NO!!! It was really windy here to day and 85. It sets me off having the wind touch my face. I am trying to be cheerful no matter what.
