MVD on the 15th

Hello Friends,

 

My appointment with the neurosurgeon didn't go as I thought it would... he wants to do a biopsy on the glioma this year some time because it may cause me problems in the future.  However, he took one look at my facial spasms, listened to my TN story, went back and looked at the MRI and said that he could help me.  He explained that the spams may get so bad the damage is irreversable.  I have problems opening my right eye sometimes and the spams hurts my vision.  He said MVD was the answer.

 

I am going to do it.  If not now, when?  I am in good health, except for the MS.  I don't have diabetes, high blood pressure, etc.  I am so dependent on drugs that it scares me.  I am hoping that this helps.

 

The PA scheduled my surgery for the week he does hospital rotations, so I know a familiar face (I've known him since he was in PA school).  The doctor doesn't use residents or have students.  I met everyone who was going to touch my brain and have all of their phone numbers.

 

However, now that I've made the decision, I'm a bit overwhelmed.  I am going to take a nap :-)

Hi Melodye,

I'm glad the surgeon has decided on the surgery. I am praying it will give you relief. Please keep us posted. The 15th isn't long. Could you not have the biopsy before the surgery?

Hi Melodye,

I'm glad you decided on the surgery. I had mine done on Feb. 12 (three weeks ago) and I am doing better than I thought I would. I do have pain but the meds are taking care of that. Hope all goes well with you and that you are pain free soon.

Hi Melodye,

I am new to this site. I am 33 and was recently informed that I have TN. I read about what you are going through and I sincerely hope the MVD goes well and you feel better soon. I can't imagine what it is like dealing with MS AND TN.

I am also considering MVD, but I'm scared about the procedure.

Hello Melodye, thank goodness that your neurosurgeon listened to you and is going to help you, and soon. There is every chance that you will get a real good result, so I will wish you very best wishes and positivity. And continue with those naps!
