Does anyone know of a neurologist in Washington or Oregon State?

Some of the best neurologists in Oregon for ATN are at Oregon Health and Science University here in Portland. I do not have their number, but I am sure you can find it online.

THANK YOU! I have looked at the Facial Pain clinic there, perhaps I overlooked the neurologists as I am not ready to have surgery so I can't really see a neurosurgeon for medication maintenance, per se.

Dr Kim Burchiel runs the neurosurgery end of the facial pain center. Dr Brett Stacey runs the pain management part of the program and I would highly recomend him. Dr Stacey has made TN a major focus of his practice. I got my TN diagnoses here at OHSU 15 yrs ago. My MVD was done at the VA hospital last year by a neurosurgeon who did his fellowship at OHSU. I consider myself blessed in that I have to deal with TN I am dealing with it here1

Thanks Sarah. I have a friend who recently had a rhizotomy that was performed by Dr. Burchiel (she had an MVD 10 years ago that did not work but the rhizotomy has worked for her, so far!). Thanks for the tip on Dr. Stacey. I will try to get a referal there from my GP and the PAC that I see. I really appreciate the feedback as it is hard to work blindly when trying to find a specialist.

Thanks! I live in Northern Washington State (san juan islands). I was hoping to find a neurologist in the Bellingham (north Washington) or Seattle area. I have checked on endthepain.org and no luck for Washington State (except for neurosurgeons). I saw Dr. Shekar at Harborview Neurologic Center. I am going to give them a call to ask if they can refer me. So, if your doctor or your friend who sees somebody at OSHU has any ideas on somebody closer to me that would be great. At the moment, I am considering taking Sarah's advice and going to OSHU even though it is a long trip for me- at this point I don't care. I see a PAC right now who is a headache specialist and does have several patients with TN, just hoping to find somebody who specializes. Thanks for your help! I can understand not wanting to travel with TN. Thing is very few doctors outside of large academic medical centers see TN in their practices. Am wondering if the University of Washington medical center might not be a option. I know nothing about their doctors but am just throwing it out there as a thought. ( Dr Burchiel did his residency and fellowhip there coming to OHSU in 1989 )

UofW does have a pain clinic (general). I am planning to call around to the major hospitals.. UW, Harborview, Swedish, St. Joseph's (Bellingham). I do realize that it is tough find somebody that has ever treated or worked with somebody with ATN. Where I live is a bit of a hassle as I have to take a 2 hour ferry ride then drive 80 miles to get to Seattle. Don't get me wrong, not complaining... if I find somebody good I will do whatever it takes to get more help. My GP has been great but I am his first case of TN (the fact that it finally got diagnosed correctly and that he sent me for an MRI versus back to the dentist is a miracle in itself)- luckily he also practices in Seattle and did some consulting on his own to learn more about how to help me and he also got me hooked up with a neurosurgeon consult and a headache specialist quickly.

Thanks for the tips, I will follow up on your suggestions. I don't have a lot of room to be picky living in WA.

I go to my regular doctor. He's seen many TN suffers and is very good. His name is William Cox in Selah.
